Project Information
GCI 5th Ave MallGeneral Communications, Inc.
Fifth Avenue Mall, Anchorage

In 2000, GCI asked ISG (formally Center 4 Interior Design) to design a retail facility representing all products and services. It was important to design a unique and innovative space that would attract customers of all ages. The materials and design reflect that GCI is on the leading edge of telecommunications, cable and Internet. Once construction began, ISG had only three weeks to transform an existing candy store into a new retail facility, having doors open for business the day after Thanksgiving. Project Management was the key role for ISG during the construction of this facility. Collectively, 14 contractors were working in the 450 square foot space at one time. The project was completed on time and within budget.

GCI Training FacilityGeneral Communications, Inc.
Training Facility, Anchorage

The GCI Training Facility is centrally located for the convenience of personnel who work in other office buildings within Anchorage. It was important to use materials and various finishes unique to any of GCI's other facilities. The space incorporates two training rooms, four private offices, a quiet area, break room and a reception area large enough to accommodate those in training. Although this project was budget sensitive, ISG designed the space with materials and furniture emulating a high-end professional training center.

Era Aviation VP OfficeEra Aviation Center
VP Private Office, Anchorage

Era Aviation Center asked ISG (formally Alaska Business Interiors) to renovate an existing executive office to reflect a fresh contemporary design. Storage and conferencing were two important requirements that ISG had in designing this office. A custom peninsula desk, accommodating four people for conferencing was selected. Storage was maximized with the use of overhead storage units, lateral files, bookcases, and a wardrobe unit. The finishes and materials selected created a warm and inviting environment for an employee new to Alaska.

Alaska Railroad HeadquartersAlaska Railroad Corporation
Headquarters, Anchorage

In 1991 ARRC contracted ISG (formally Alaska Business Interiors) to assist in the design of a new 38,000 square foot Headquarters Building. Scope of services included programming, space planning, move management, furniture specifications, and bid analysis. ISG's challenges involved employee sensitivity to facility relocation and transitioning them from a closed office to an open office concept. To meet these challenges ISG designed large systems furniture workstations with high tackable/acoustical panels. Storage was maximized in each workstation and a majority of the personnel were located near an exterior window. The relocation of departments required ISG to omit down time. Therefore, the scheduled move of all 120 employees occurred over a six-week period of time, weekends only.
